Hi,

I have Acer G247HYL with built-in speakers connected to my MSI GTX 970 via HDMI. I'm using Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit and all drivers were already installed but there is no audio coming out from the speakers. I have already set up the audio settings through NVIDIA Control Panel and it's already enabled through HDMI but still no sound. I opened the Windows Sound -> Playback Devices settings and noticed 3 devices with the name "Digital Audio (HDMI)" stated as "Not plugged in" while the one "G247HYL" stated as "Default Device". When I played a song using Windows Media Player the audio/volume bar of G247HYL on the Playback tab was raising/moving, showing that there's an audio currently playing but there's no sound at all. What should I do now? Anybody can help me with this?

Does the monitor has any volume button itself?

which HDMI version is your cable?

    Hi IronFly,

Thanks for replying. Sorry for taking so long to respond. I had to borrow a few HDTVs, LCDs and cables just to make sure it wasn't my GTX 970 that's acting weird. Turned out, it really wasn't my GTX 970, thank God for that. All HDTVs and LCDs I tested were capable of producing sound through HDMI. The cables were HDMI 1.4 and 2.0 and all of them worked, at least when plugged into those HDTVs and LCDs I borrowed from friends. But when I plugged those cables into my Acer G247HYL, there was no sound. I could see the volume bar in Windows Playback Devices next to G247HYL icon. I tested it and the volume bar moved, showing a sign of an audio file currently being played. But there was no sound. At all. My G247HYL has volume button, the second button on the left of the power button. By default it was set to 70. Raising it to 100 didn't change anything because I couldn't hear a sound.

A few important things from the tests I ran:

    • My GTX 970, regardless of driver version, is capable of producing sound through HDMI connection.
    • NVIDIA drivers installed and used are display driver, all audio drivers and PhysX. No 3D and GeForce Experience.
    • I have no other sound processor or sound card installed or running. The onboard audio is disabled through UEFI/BIOS.
    • All HDTVs and LCDs from various brands including Samsung, Toshiba, LG and Sony can produce sound when connected to my GTX 970 through HDMI.
    • HDMI cables are v1.4 and v2.0 and all of them work without problem.

Obviously that leave only my G247HYL as the only culprit. The monitor has built-in speakers and volume button but strangely it cannot produce sound. Something is not right here...

    What should I do now?

Hi all!  I'm sorry if I didn't recognized some important deails about "Acer ACE program", community members "ranges" and so on. I just have the same issue - no sound from my G247HYL monitor itself. Audio-out works correctly, but no audio from several other devices that do it for another monitor and TV with HDMI input. And sure I've checked all sound settings to make monitor a default sound device, installed unsigned official drivers etc.

Is the reply about "go to the service" is official suggestion of ACER?

    system1:

    OS: Windows 7 Enterprise x64

    GPU: Intel i5-5257U integrated graphics

    also tested on:

    OS: Windows 10 Home x64

GPU: Intel Atom X5-Z8300 integrated graphics

Hi All and congratulation to all byers of G247HYL!

ACER misleaded you to buy a model wich has, actually, NO SPEAKERS built-in!

I saw it by myself in a service-center.

I am going to change it to another one - with speakers(confirmed Smiley Happy  ). Not Acer this time.
