B286HK came without miniDP. Bought Apple Thunderbolt cable but monitor scan does not see it.

My B286HK monitor came without the miniDP cable so I went to Apple and bought a miniDP (thunderbolt) cable. Plug the cable in monitor and in my Macbook Pro Retinr 13" and the monitor input scan skips right over it.

All that I have read is that the monitor will display 4K at 60hz using the displayPort.

The HDMI works fine but ONLY 4K at 30hz.

Does the monitor support 4k at 60hz through Display/Port? If so do I need a special cable?

Thanks for any help.

    HGG,

According to the documentation this monitor will support 3840x2160 @60Hz using a Display Port (version 1.2), I would presume that the mini Display Port would have to be version 1.2 as well.

From what I can find, version 1.1 supports up to 2560×1600 and version 1.2 supports up to 4096x2160.

Try setting the resolution to 2560x1600 and see if the display picks up the signal, that will tell you which version the cable probably is.

I ended up picking up a DP 1.2 -> mini DP 1.2 cable and it worked at 60Hz.

With that said, a lot of folks are complaining with these monitors and ghosting.    I have one and am getting ready to send it back to amazon because the ghosting is so bad.   2-3 of the folks I have chatted with did not have any luck with Acer technical support or repair service, so I am going to completely avoid that and send it back before it's too late.

    Just a heads up.
