Hi all.

I just bought this laptop.

How easy is it to swap the HDD over for a SSD? I am a web dessigner and the HDD is going mad with Photoshop/Muse and Dreamweaver open all at once.

I have a 250GB SSD from my old laptop which is nearly new.

I had a look on the net and seems there are like 18 screws to take out the bottom of the case and then lift the keyboard out. Then there are 3 ribbons (hoping to only remove the one over the HDD itself tho)

I spoke to an Acer tech and to be honest he was no use and the fact that its not reccomended to upgrade your own laptop is crazy.

Any one done this with this exact model? any hints or pitfalls to avoid?

any help would be appreciated.

i think you only need to open the back cover, nothing else.

then HDD is on the left side.

have a look at pictures here:

    Thanks mate.

Seems its a take the keyboard out and fit the drive n the left as you say.

I have NEVER seen such a unaccesible HDD and RAM config as this...

My old HP was a peice of cake to upgrade.

nope, not need to take off the keyboard, just take off the back cover and the HDD will be in the left side.

    Well..

Carefully removed the back... fitted the SSD.

Formatted it with a clean install of Win 10

No more silly acer apps Smiley Happy

Nice fast responsive laptop now Smiley Happy

Only issue I had was getting the 3.5mm jack lined up... but that was a easy fix.

Thanks to Ironfly for the help Smiley Happy

    Cheers

    Mav out.
