Chromebook scrolling jerky and hesitates

I have had my chromebook less than two weeks, I was loving it but the last two days it has driven me crazy.

The scrolling is jerky and freezes for about five to ten seconds, it does this constantly seconds apart.

I am using a mouse but it was fine for the 10 or 11 days before this started. I tried using the pad but it still does it.

I found on another forum someone with the same problem and they were told to check the apps and extensions added. I have added no new ones, I even took out a few of the exsiting apps I just won't need, but it still does it.

It also said to log out and go in as a guest, I tried this and it was much better.

My chromebook is an Acer, model cb3-111-c4gd.

If anyone has any clues or help it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi croths,

So the step of logging into the Guest account is a great first step. The idea behind is that you wouldn't have any of your personal applications or settings loaded, and can isolate if the issue is related to the software (operating system or hardware). Considering it was better, but not perfect(?) the next step would be do a 'power wash' which will rebuild the OS and let you start over. It's quick and takes just a couple of minutes, but if you have personal data you want to save, you'll need to back that up first.

Next step would be to do a full system recovery, you can download an OS onto a flashdrive and install it onto your Chromebook. Here are steps: http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27637

Finally, if you're still having trouble I would suggest contacting support as it may be a hardware issue we need to address for you.

I'm not sure why that would happen, but it's one of the great features of the Chromebook that allow for issues like this to be taken care of so quickly. The fact that so many things are account bound makes it easier to recovery and take a lot of pressure off when it comes to backing up data and ensuring everything is taken care of.
