Not having luck installing Windows 10 from Win 7

Hello everybody.

I'm having some problems as I try to upgrade to Windows 10 from my Windows 7 laptop.

My upgrade was reservered and was supposed to start installing at 11pm GMT.
It gave the the 1 hour warning message to say it will start downloading in an hour.
I let the hour go by and it restarted my computer. It then asked me to log in again. A few seconds later Windows Update popped open and said these exact words.

(Header) "Restart your computer to install important updates"
(Main) "Windows can't update important files and services while the system is using them. Save any open files and restart the computer, and then try to check for new updates."

I have restarted 6 times now. And it still says the same thing.
I can see Get Windows 10 is still open in the taskbar, but all that does is take me to Windows Update.
I downloaded the Windows 10 Home files shortly after I reservered my copy.
I just can't seem to get it to install!

My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5336, and is eligible for an upgrade.

If anyone could help that would be grand.
Thanks.
