This may be a stupid question, but can I use the hdmi input on the Acer Predator X34 gsync to connect a gaming console. Main usage will be pc gaming and video/picture editing, but sometimes it's nice to relax with som older ps3 rpg's

You should be able to connect with no issues using an HDMI cable.  However, you will not be able to utilize the G-Sync function and will have to turn off the overlock function.  Those functions work only with a PC with a compatible Nvidia graphics card.  Note that you will most likely only have 1080P or lower resolution using the HDMI 1.4b port and thus will have black bars on the right and left hand side of the screen.

Yes. I connected my PS4 and my Xbox One. Make sure you also select the aspect to 1:1 so it does look correctly and make sure it is set to 60hz.  It looks glorious!

Works Great. But is it possible to get 16:9 resolution with black bars on Pc? Disappointingly many newer games don't support 21:9. When I choose 2560x1440 or 1920x1080 the picture is stretched and looks like **bleep**

Yes you can. You have to set the monitor to 1:1 aspect and it will have black bars if you set it to 16:9 ratio.

Strange. It works for me just fine. I was playing Fallout 4 in 16:9

Do you have the game to full screen or windowed borderless

That made the picture really misplaced, do I have no make adjustments in nvidia control panel?

Unsure about that. I only did the steps I mentioned above. The game shouldn't go past what the computers resolution was set at.

    @bjornland

You did set the aspect ratio on the monotor, and not the PC?

I had to set it in the NVIDIA control panel, or the games would stretch to fit the screen despite the settings on the monitor.

That is weird, you should set it only in the monitor settings...

I play Heroes of the Storm in 16:9 with black bars on the side of the screen, because it doesn't support 3440x1440 res yet...

Here's what you need to check:

    -Monitor-

In the OSD, set "Wide Mode" to "1:1".

    -NVIDIA Control Panel-

Go to "Display > Adjust desktop size and position" then under the "Scaling" tab set "Aspect Ratio" (not "Fullscreen" as is default).

    -In the Game-

In your game, make sure to run in Fullscreen and 2560x1440 resolution (or whatever 16:9 res you want).

Now you will be able to play in 16:9 with black bars on your game, with G-Sync in fullscreen mode, and still be able to alt-tab back out to the desktop without any issues at 3440x1440 Smiley Happy

    Hope this helps!

    Vand.

Some games on the PS3 stretches over the screen, other games are in 16:9. Is it possible to force all games to output 16:9 whithout streching the image.
