Update BIOS in Linux

Hello.

I recently noticed that I can't access BIOS through Keyboard Shortcuts like F2, F12, or any other, apparently due to an outdated BIOS.

Is there any way to update the BIOS on Linux, or to get around this?

PC: Acer Aspire V5-571G

OS: Ubuntu 15.04

  • I am not 100% sure this would work. IF you were using 8.1 or 10 I could give you another way to enter. I know you said that F2 didn't work. But here is an Idea I would like you to try.....

Press and HOLD the F2 button then turn on your Laptop while holding the F2 Button and see if that helps you get into your bios.

Then I would change your Bios to Lagecy from the UEFI

BIOS updates are only available under windows platforms, so no way to update under Linux OS.

    I'm not an Acer employee.
