Acer Iconia W700 push button recovery

Hi,

I bought this tablet Acer W700P twice now, and it is faulty again.

It did not come with any recovery dvds. Yet was factory sealed.

Sstraight from the box with the FRONT CAMERA undetected. There is no front camera anywhere, in any camera software/app. And it doesn't exist under device manager (not even with conflicts/driver issues).

So.. Because of this... I am now trying to factory reset to see if that will fix it, and guess what?

I can see a partition of 9 GB called "acer push button recovery", yet, after hours researching the net... I cannot find any instructions on how to access that partition to restore my tablet...

I do not have dvds! From what I have read, the factory reset can only be done with DVD's. So why would Acer have a 9 GB recovery partition? This makes no sense, specially when windows 8 only takes 4GB.

How can I fix this problem?

Once again, I just bought a AcerW700p a week ago... Came in the same condition... I returned and got a refund... Bought a new Acer W700P tablet... The thing arrived factory sealed with no dvds and with a faulty front camera.

The back camera keeps blurring in and out constantly... every 3 seconds... I am so mad!

I am used to enjoy Acer as a maker of amazing quality products... But now? This experience is destructive!

    a) Thought the 700 had been replaced some time ago and was obsolete. Only thing in the store is the keyboard.

    b) See a lot of drivers on the suport site for both 8 and 8.1 but most are from 2013. Have you tried any of those ?

    c) First thing I do is to create a recovery flash drive and save a system image to disk even if it came with media. Makes for easy restoration.

    d) Ususally as part of the recovery drive process you are given the option of removing the recovery partition. That is the only safe way to remove it. Just deleting the partition will reall screw up the OS.

    e) If it were mine, I'd create the recovery and image drives as backup, use a third party program (e.g. from nirsoft) to save the keys, and then upgrade to Win 10. YMMV.

They haven't made W700s for quite some time, so you may be going through the dealers old stock. I don't know what causes the problem with the front camera, but I'd guess the cable has come loose where it plugs into the motherboard. With larger SSD sizes on the W series they have a recovery partition instead of recovery DVDs. You can create the recovery disks from that partition using the Acer recovery software. With the rear camera, you need really good light before it'll look as good as you'd like. Try it outdoors and you'll see a huge difference.

    To access the reocvery partition:

    1.     Power off the tablet.
    2.     Press and hold the Power and Windows buttons to power on the tablet and enter the Windows recovery environment.
    3.     Select the preferred keyboard layout.
    4.     Select Troubleshoot.
    5.     Select Reset your PC.
    6.     Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
