Acer 5520 won't connect to Linksys wireless network

I cannot get a recently acquired Acer 5520-5334 laptop, SN [edited for privacy] , to connect to my home network which uses a Linksys E3000 router.  My HP dv8t laptop has had no problem. The Acer does connect to the guest network provided by the router. The Linksys Easy Setup Key in the Acer fails to complete setup.  When I employ “Manually connect to a wireless network” via Control Panel, I enter the network name, security type(WPA-Personal) and encryption type(TKIP) which correspond to the settings on the router, but the Acer fails to connect.  The Acer has 32-bit Vista Home Premium SP2, the latest Vista updates, an Atheros AR5007EG wireless adapter, and the Atheros 7.4.2.75 driver.  Any help would be much appreciated.

After much searching, I found this information on the Linksys website:

 

This router is a "Dual Band" router: Simultaneous Dual-Band (2.4 and 5 GHz). Not all adapters can connect to one of these. Also, here, http://homekb.cisco.com/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=80&vw=1&articleid=21186 it states:

QUICK TIP:  Not all wireless adapters are compatible with WPA2 Personal.  Check if your adapter and computer operating system is compatible with the router’s wireless security.

 

This comptuer uses a MINI WLAN/B INTEL 802.11 wifi card. In order to see if this wifi card works with this router, you would need to contact Linksys or Intel for compatability.
