Product Key

  Hi All, new member.

I have an Aspire V3-551 that ran beautifully. I upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1 and found later my DVD drive no longer would play/burn or rip. I also started developing errors on Adobe Reader. I thought the free upgrade to 10 would solve these issues. Well, no more errors but my DVD still does not play, rip or burn. As the product key was embedded in Windows 8 can I still go back to 8. Since Windows was preinstalled I have no discs.

Thanks and have a good one.

if the original Acer recovery partition is still intact, you can try to create an USB recovery media, using windows 10 recovery/restore media.

press windows key logo + s

    type File History

click on File history control panel

on the bottom left select Recovery

click on create a recovery drive and follow instructions

or you can check if pressing ALT+F10 at boot, it still start the Acer erecovery process.

Many Thanks, I'll give it a try. I'm a bit of a novice so this may be a silly question...I went from 8 to 8.1  to 10. In going from 10 back to 8 will I lose anything I have on the computer?

      Have a good one, SlipperyPete

honestly i would backup any importat data for you.

thre restore process must retain all your data but....it's not 100% bullet proof. Smiley Happy

Hi, One last question before I begin. My Acer is about 2 years old so past warranty. Will all my drivers still be there? If I would need to find or update these where would I find them?

      Thanks again, George

if you use Acer erecovery, all the drivers will be installed; if you want to check updates:
