Win10 - Sleep mode shuts down computer (VN7-591G)

I'm trying to make sure my laptop has time to enable TRIM for the SSD, so I set it to sleep mode at night.  The next morning the laptop appears to be off, no keys wake the computer, a power button press starts it up (and it doesn't wake immediately, more of the usual start up time).

I've checked power management settings, close the lid settings and don't see any incorrect settings.

Additionally, is there a way to determine if TRIM support has run?

    tytlyf,

By default, Windows 10 will optimize (trim) the drive weekly if necessay.  But more than likely it won't need to since Windows 10 trims the drive almost immediately (less than 20 seconds) after you delete a file.

Don't worry, Windows is smart.  It knows what to do.

Unfortunately, one of the most common things people do after getting a SSD is trying to tweak things because they read some outdated info on the internet.  It's a big mistake.  There's no need to tweak anything.

The folks at Microsoft know that lots of people use SSDs.  That is why when you go to "optimize" in control panel, it shows optimize instead of defragment. Also, they wouldn't put the default automatic sleep times at their current default settings if it were going to be a problem.  Again, they know several million people use SSDs and have been doing so over the last several years.  If you are a little paranoid and want to trim the drive manually, then click optimize.

Almost all modern SSDs have built in garbage collection even if trim did not work.  I don't know this for fact, but active garbage collection is probably designed for Apple computers since for a long period of time, Apple didn't allow third party SSDs to be installed in their computer....and thus the trim command wouldn't work.

So my advice would be to put your power settings back to default. (I don't know why it is going from sleep to hibernate on your computer---maybe the battery is low??)

If you want to test whether trim is really working, most geeks use trimcheck:

    https://github.com/CyberShadow/trimcheck

    http://files.thecybershadow.net/trimcheck/

    Or use something like CrystalDiskInfo

    http://crystalmark.info/software/CrystalDiskInfo/index-e.html

Other geek program to ensure your driver is ok and ssd is aligned is AS-SSD

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/as_ssd_benchmark.html

And click on "download from authors site"

Edit: Also make sure you have the latest BIOS and drivers from Acer:
