I purchased an Aspire E5-573G-59C3 laptop from Newegg a few weeks ago and it didn't have an ODD (Optical Disk Drive). I purchased a compatable drive, but now I need the bezel with the push button and the LED.
I have contacted Acer (twice) with the part number (42.ML9N2.001) and it seems that the part number is specific to the SNID of the laptop and therefore I can't order the part because my laptop didn't have the part originally.
I can certainly empathize with the salespeople at Acer trying to deal with so many models, but it is unconscionable that a company that sells parts can't sell the part requested, whether I want to use it in a laptop or as part of a wind chime!
Prior to this purchase, the only laptops I've ever bought were from Dell. Over the years, that's 8 laptops, two servers, and 3 desktops, and I've never had a problem getting parts or service (other than an issue with a warranty transfer).
So now I'm wondering if this is the standard practice at Acer and if so, should I just send back this unit and move back to Dell. Is Acer really this bad or did I just hit a dead zone?
All that said, I still need the bezel. I've purchase [what I thought was] a compatable bezel for an E1 but it doesn't fit, so now I'm back to the drawing board.
Has anyone successfully purchased the ODD Bezel for an E5-573G?
Thanks
Jim
