Hello,

Just bought my first Acer laptop E5-471G and would like to add another 4GB RAM to it, it originally comes with 4GB.

I was wondering if upgrading the RAM by myself will void the warranty?

Are there certain brands of ram sticks that Acer laptops prefer? Do both slots have to have the same number of GB of RAM on each stick?

Thank you for your help and tips in advance.

Gab

    Hello Gab,

1- About warranty, I suggest you to contact your Acer support.

    2- Your laptop supports up to 16Gb - DDR3L - 1600MHz (2x8Gb).

    • The original memory module of 4Gb:
    Spoiler
    KN.4GB07.021SODIMM.4GB.DDR3L-1600.KINGSTON
    KN.4GB0B.028SODIMM.4GB.DDR3L-1600.SAMSUNG
    KN.4GB0C.007SODIMM.4GB.DDR3L-1600.A-DATA
    KN.4GB0C.008SODIMM.4GB.DDR3L-1600.A-DATA
    KN.4GB0G.029SODIMM.4GB.DDR3L-1600.HYNIX
    • You could find the part number of your original memory module with HWINFO portable version (no installation).
    • You could "combine" the sizes: 2+4 or 4+4 or 8+4 etc

Local Acer Hong Kong tech support told me if I upgrade ram by myself, it would void the warranty as long as I don't break any parts. LOL. Their prices is very high if I bring in the notebook to add in just 4 Gb RAM. The tech support staff also told me that the two slots have to have the same amount of ram added, like 4+4 or 8+8. I cannot add in an 8Gb stick if keep the existing 4Gb stick on board....

Yippy! I brought the notebook to a local computer shop. They put in another stick of 4GB Ram for me and charge very little for labour. With 8 GB Ram, I see great improvement in the notebook performance. Smiley Very Happy

    Hi Haisham,

Could you give me the first ten characters of the computer serial number (S/N)? Only the first ten.

NO DDR4 ram is not compatible with your laptop and won't work, DDR4 needs a different chipset and mainboard to work.
