Greetings.
Have been experiencing this issue for some time now, and still not found a resolution.
I have an Aspire Swich 10 (SW5-012-13TT-US).
Occasionally, the touchpad stops responding for the most part (though if in a window that has a scroll bar, it can still scroll, however, tapping does not work at all). When this happens, the cursor for the touchpad also vanishes completely, and I am forced to navigate with the keyboard.
I can use the keyboard to disable the touch-screen, and the cursor comes back and acts normally, but if I re-enable the touch screen after a moment it goes wonky again.
You'll notice in the screenshot, the three dots just to the left of center - this is often what becomes of the touchscreen "cursor" when it freezes, and this does not vanish until the touchscreen is disabled.

I was hoping that upgrading to Windows 10 would resolve this issue, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
This happens when the system is stock, except for the antivirus software, as well.
It is possible that it is something in the driver conflicting with the antivirus software, I suppose, I have tried both Norton (a couple of different editions) and Symantec Endpoint Protection (a couple of different releases). EDIT: I just experienced the problem after uninstalling the AV software again and rebooting.
The most reliable way I know of to reproduce this is to just open Acer Recovery Management and tap "Reinstall Drivers or Applications" (not certain if the tap is required, but that's where it seems to most frequently freeze up).
This is the only device, however, on which this happens. Is there a driver update for the touch-screen driver? I was unable to find any details on the driver files used by the touch-screen.
Thanks for any assistance that you can provide.
