XB270H and Windows 10

My monitor which I brought in June worked wonderfully in Windows 8.1, having upgraded to Windows 10 its a disaster.

It is no longer recognised and shows up as a Generic Monitor with a refresh rate of 60 KHz, if you try and change it the monitor behaves as though 144 KHz is not supported.

I tried to have a web chat to be told tghere are no new drivers for any monitors and they have no idea when if any will be available, reaading the Acer website for Windows 10 upgrades and it looks as though no monitors will be supported. They then referred me to a phone number and the person there did not even know what a "DisplayPort" is and claimed it would onhly connect by HDMI or DVI or VGA.

Hoping someone here may be able to help, Win 8.1 drivers do not want to install as not digitally signed.

You can try to disable signed driver enforcement and attempt to install the drivers.

I did try that method without success, so I tried to resolve the issue without the help of Acer Support and I eventually got it working by the following method.

Install Win 8.1 so the system becomes dual boot, set it up in 8.1 with the lastest drivers then switch back to Windows 10 and it is now working in Windows 10.

I had same problem after upgrade to win 10 from win 7, generic PnP driver. I still had the Acer XB270H driver download on my drive and ran into the same issue with digital signing, this is how I fixed.

I disabled the digital driver signature verification, I had the monitor driver in a folder on my hard drive (extracted)

in device manager I choose "update driver software" then "browse my computer for driver software" - "let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer" - highlighted the generic monitor and choose "have disk" browse to the folder on my drive with the driver, select and enter. ignore the warnings and install anyways.

Driver installed no problem and once you close device manager and reopen is now correctly identified as the XB270H

Hope this helps someone, oh and this is the method I used to disable the signing issue -

"Simply select Restart from the power options menu (on Windows 8 that’s under Charms or on the login screen, and in Windows 10 it’s on the Start Menu).
Hold down the SHIFT key while you click Restart
(Again, you can use this trick on any of the power menus in Windows 8 or 10, whether on the login screen, Charms bar, Start Menu, or Start Screen)
Once your computer has rebooted you will be able to choose the Troubleshoot option.
Then head into Advanced options.
Then Startup Settings.
Since we are modifying boot time configuration settings, you will need to restart your Computer one last time.
Finally, you will be given a list of startup settings that you can change. The one we are looking for is “Disable driver signature enforcement”. To choose the setting, you will need to press the F7 key.
That’s all there is to it. Your PC will then reboot and you will be able to install unsigned drivers without any error message "

Das funktioniert leider nur teilweise :-(

Tatsächlich steht da jetzt nicht mehr PnP sondern Acer XB270H

Aber: es bleibt bei 60Hz :-(

Ich finde es im Übrigen skandalös, dass Acer für einen so teuren Monitor, den wir extra wegen 144Hz und 1ms gekauft hatten, keine Windows 10 Treiber zur Verfügung stellt.

Für unseren nächsten Monitor (den wir jetzt kaufen müssen) ist Acer defintiv aus dem Rennen.
