Where do these Acer files belong in Windows XP ?

I could not find an appropriate forum for Monitors, so chose this one as it relates to Windows XP.

I downloaded driver for Acer Monitor AL1716. When I unzipped the zip file, I received two files:

Does anyone know how to install these in Windows XP so the Monitor can be recognized ?

The Monitor appears under "Other Devices" and cannot be changed (colors or resolution) and update driver

doesn't work, scan for HW changes doesn't work.

As it turns out the Solution to the Monitor problem is solved by going to Intel.com and downloading and installing the 82865G Graphics Controller Software, which is not contained in SP2 or SP3.

Thanks for the reply, but it does not help. When updating the driver, and pointing to the location where these two files exist, everything remains grayed out, so you cannot continue. It is like these files are not driver files that it is looking for. Now of particular NOTE:

I replaced the ACER Monitor with an Envision Monitor and reinstalled (fresh) Windows XP to secondary HD.

Both Monitors install as "Non Plug&Play" instead of "Plug&Play"

The Acer only had color of 8 bits.

The Envision has color of 16 bits.

But in both Cases, resolution bar cannot be slid to increase or decrease.

End result is resolution is unacceptable for Email client, and other things !
