G226HQL Can't change gamma?

The monitor itself has no gamma option in the menu from the physical buttons. Have tried to change the gamma setting through multiple third party programs, AMD's Catalyst, and Windows Display Calibration. In each case, the result was the same: It would show what the display would look like with the gamma change for about half a second, and then immediately switch back to the factory-set gamma, which is very clearly way too high. Does this monitor not allow gamma changes at all? Clearly it's not incapable of displaying with different gamma values, because, as I said, I can see what the display would look like with the change. Is there anyway to override this fixed gamma, or am I doomed to washed out colors forever?

Try connecting an analog connection (VGA) and see if the settings open up in the OSD. Sometimes there are settings that are not adjustable when using a digital connection (DVI, HDMI, DP).

Indeed, using VGA does allow me to change the gamma of the display. It was a very pleasing sight, having the monitor display some normal colors (at least in the middle of the screen. The gamma variance on this monitor is absolutely atrocious). For the five minutes it lasted. It did not last because in order to use a VGA cord I had to take the monitor to an entirely different computer, which I only bothered doing because of some desparate and futile hope that the monitor might retain the gamma change between computers. Wouldn't that be all too convenient?

Unfortunately, my graphics card was actually manufactured within the last 5 years, and, like any modern card worth its salt, no longer features a VGA port. Only DVI and HDMI. So much for the digital age, right?
