Acer Aspire V5-571p: Remove touchscreen driver

TommyOh13TommyOh13 Posts: 5Member

Hi, I'm looking to permanently remove my touchscreen drivers from my computer in a way that they will stay removed even after an OS upgrade. Any ideas or suggestions?

Context: I have a cracked touchscreen which constantly produces phantom clicks when the touchscreen is enabled. These clicks make it impossible to do anything, including log in and disable drivers. Right now, in Windows 8.1, I have disabled the drivers but when I tried to install Windows 10, the drivers were enabled. Due to the phantom clicks, I was unable to log in and resolve this issue. I eventually managed to revert back to Windows 8.1 and am now looking to disable or remove the driver entirely so it does not reactivate when I install Windows 10. Thank you!

     TommyOh13,

We have an article that explains how to do so here, you might be able to boot into safe mode and disable it without it clicking all over.

    Hi TommyOh13,

Apologies for this impromptu request. I also own a Aspire V5-571P which I upgraded to Windows 10 last week. But the performance was so slow (5sec lag per click), I had to revert back to Win8.1. I contacted Acer Suport but the Aspire V5-571P is not on the Windows 10 support list.

Did you experience the same performance issues. If so, how did you resolve it?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

    Hi Jreid71424.

My problem was with the win8 risidual settings in the accounts that was migrated during the upgrade. Somehow it affected the  performance along with other things. I've read numerous sites and the solution I went for is as follows

    1) Delete wife's account

    2) Reinstall wife's account and grant admin access

    3) Now login as wife's account and delete my account

    4) Reinstall my account and reinstate admin access.

What I end up with is 2 fresh win10 accounts without the win8 junk to screw things up.

    Hope this helps
