restore from a backup file

I tried to restore my computer using the erecovery options which really messed up my computer,after running eRecovery it wouldn't boot the Os.So I bought a device that allowed me to connect my hard drive to another computer and Voila the HD worked perfectly(Acers response at first was that the drive had most likely died--NOT) so I downloaded the entire drive to another drive then ran the eRecovery again on the original drive this time choosing completely restore option.This gave me control of the Os again,but everything had been erased.So I attached my HD to the other machine and downloaded my saved drive back to the original HD.The drive shows a folder called "Backup' which was created the first time I tried using the eRecovery program,before wiping the drive clean,but I can't find a way to restore my files from the "Backup" folder,does anyone have a clue if this can be done and how.

eRecovery wipes the drive. It does not make a backup of any personal data. It just restores the system to factory defaults.

I do not know what is contained in the "backup" folder.

Perhaps if you shared what type of files are listed in the folder? Someone might be able to point you to a solution to read them.

When I initially tried to use the eRecovery software the program said it was saving all my files in a folder called "backup" on C:\, on retsart the program would reach a point where it said "Setup is satrting services" then just error messages that setup had encountered an error and must restart,over and over.I copied the original HD and all files to another machine using a piece of hardware(Had to remove the original HD and attach it to the SATA to USB device),Then I ran the erecovery again and selected the restore to factory default settings.The program ran and started normally,then I copied all the files back onto the original drive including the folder that the eRecovery had previously created called C:\BACKUP.When viewing the folder it says the folder is empty,I have changed the folders properties to view all files(Including hidden).

The light just went on over here!!

So is the flaw in the program that the eRecovery software never put anything into the "BACKUP" folder and that's why it kept returning the errors,or are there files in the folder but for some reason I just can't see them.
