Laptop Hang when shutting down

Sometimes, after heavy usage e.g. gaming + watching some movies and i turn the laptop off, it would stay forever on the blue page while displaying "shutting down". On rare occasions like this, it gets stuck on this page [image below]. And by "forever" as i mentioned above, i meant up to 10min upon shutting down.

How can i have patience to wait any longer when all i want to do is just get to bed.. Thus, i just assumed there is an issue with the laptop (i have sent it for servicing before in the past due to other complications)

i tend to just hold the power button to force shut down.

Any advice on this issue? Thanks in advance

P.S. I'm using Acer Aspire 5755G

Depending on the number and types of applications you had open/ram usage at the time you decided to shut down, 10 minutes seems possible and not particularly unusual. During times of heavy usage, much has to be saved back on the hard disk before shutting down. Accordingly, a forced shutdown is not recommended unless the system is truly hung.
