5553G wont boot past windows start screen? help

Try this:

open the ram cover

take off one ram stick and try to boot

if it doesn't boot

change ram stick and try again

if you are able to boot under safe mode with one ram stick, uninstall the ATI drivers and try to boot normally.

if after that, with both ram sticks inserted, it crashes again.....it's one faulty ram stick.

the laptop has 6gb ram in 3x 2 gb sticks, i removed all of them and used a single 2gb stick from another machine and tested the 6gb from the acer 5553g, all ram is working but no change in the laptop, RAM isnt the issue

if you have personal data to retrive, i suggest you to create a bootable USB or CD media from Hiren's boot cd .iso

unzip the zip file, burn the .iso file to CD or USB pen/external HDD
then use a software to burn CD/DVD or USB flash drive and burn the .iso file
once done, put the CD/DVD/USB on your PC, boot from CD/USB (maybe you need to boot under Legacy if you have UEFI BIOS)
press F12 at boot and choose CD or USB
choose mini-xp from the options, once in the desktop you can copy your personal data to an USB flash drive.

Probably the error comes from a corrupted ATI driver file, if you are able to find that atipcie.sys on ATI drivers package, i would try to overwrite it using miniXP (hoping it's the only issue)

i can remove the hdd and already have done and tried another hdd it gets same results, i do need to recover from the hdd but i will just run it from a caddy, i need help diagnosing the problem booting not saving data, when i tried new hdd it loads bios recognises both old and new hdd but still fails to load/run startup/repair/install.

You have a new hard drive and are experiencing the same issue?

How did you install windows 7 ultimate on a new hard drive when you said you couldn't boot?

Sorry, but I have to ask at the risk of insulting you......did you clone the new drive from the old drive?

Edit: Anyway, if you feel confident it's not a software problem.....then yes it's probably a hardware problem.

i have a few laptops and parts around the house, i used another hdd from another machine like the RAM to test, the laptop does not boot no matter which hdd or ram i use existing or replacement, the original hdd has win 7 installed other hdd is ready to install fresh format done in other machine changed over to the 5553g and it fails to give press any key to load cd, but is found in bios like original hdd

I would disconnect all of my peripherals and disconnect hard drives on the problem computer. Then install the new hard drive in to the problem computer.

Then follow installation instructions on your new hard drive from link below.

If it still doesn't work, then it sounds like you have a hardware problem.

i think you misunderstand the problems and my descriptions Jordan, it failed to give the option to boot from cd/dvd, the laptop regardless of new or old hdd will not load will not go past starting windows logo screen or if i try repair fails to load and advanced options fails to run all of them no safe mode no command prompt no last known good config, i can access the bios and options screens only
ow and btw the link you provided has no instructions and in this case irrellivant thanks for the suggestions

Hmmmm.

1. Go in to your BIOS and tell the computer to boot to your DVD/CD.
2. From a command prompt, run diskpart clean to wipe your new HDD
3. Install windows.

If you are unable to complete those 3 steps, then you probably have a hardware problem. good luck.

Jordan while i appreciate your thoughts, ive already said 3x now i cannot get the laptop to boot from cd/dvd therefor i cannot install windows, i cannot get a command prompt as advanced startup options will not complete running safe mode

about being able to boot from CD/DVD, pressing F12 at boot gives you the boot priority list?

have you tried to create an iso from your windows 7 installation media and create a bootable USB flash drive?

then try to boot from the USB media.

Maybe if you described all of the steps the you've taken to get you laptop to boot from cd/DVD, it would be more clear as to whether you cannot get it to boot from cd/DVD or you don't know how to get it to boot from CD/DVD?

yeah i get the options from F12 and i can also set the bios to boot from dvd, same thing happens as with any of the startup repair or advanced options, the loading bar runs across the bottom then immediatley goes to black screen, i have searched the net and this forums and while i see lots of black screen problems i dont believe mine is listed which is why i asked i think the gpu is to blame but hoped there was a way to test tho im not confident enough to strip it down n reseat the gpu, there is a graphics card option in the bios switchable or discrete, i also tried both options but same results windows start logos freeze or black screen from any options Smiley Sad
i cant try booting from usb pen as i dont have one i can use atm i could go out n get one to try i supposse but really dont see why it would have any effect but worth ruling out

yep, looks like an hardware issue but i'm not sure it's VGA related, since you already tried both options.

on my opinion atpcie.sys is related to chipset, so maybe it's the real issue....a faulty chipset.

as last try, i would download Ubuntu x86 and create a bootable USB flash drive and try to boot from it, without any HDD on your laptop.

if it boots and works, the issue is not on VGA or MB/chipset, if it doesn't boot; probably the laptop is at a dead end.
