W510 blutooth sleep issues

Hi, for the last couple of days, I am experiencing an issue with my tablet when I use bluetooth. I have the Microsoft 5000 bluetooth mouse and the tablet detected it fine and works fine with it. Now, when my computer goes to sleep and I wake it back, the mouse is not working. Like if it was not connected. To have it detected again, I go in the control panel, wireless and switch bluetooth off-on.

I reapplied the Jan 8th driver pack but that did not resolved the problem. I had applied the bios update 1.51 two weeks ago and everything was ok or better with that update. I also tried to uncheck the "Allow computer to turn off this device..." for Bluetooth radio in the device manager but that did not have any effect.

Is there something I can do to resolve this issue? I would like to have bluetooth working by utself when my computer come back from sleep.

I think I finally found. I wa not a windows update but the fact that I uninstalled clear-fi apps. I resolved my problem by installing Windows 8 from Microsoft MSDN download since I have a MSDN ultimate subscription. Since then, no issues with bluetooth at all.

When your system goes to sleep, it is shutting down all of the ports and communications hardware, including bluetooth.

When it returns, the system will have to redetect any peripherals via communications protocols again.

The "Allow computer to turn off this device..." does not apply when changing power states to sleep mode.

Hi, thanks for your help. I did a system restore on my tablet. LiveUpdate found the new drivers. But I still have the same issue. Here is rhe warning I can find in thw event viewer, Windows Log-->System:

Bluetooth HID device either went out of range or became unresponsive.

The only way to get my BT mouse working after sleep mode is to go to metro control panel, wireless and switch off and on bluetooth. This is frustrating. Anything else I can do to fi this issue?

I had the same problem.

I went into device manager and under the wifi card settings I switched the setting for allowing the device to be turned off to save power.

When the device went to sleep it wouldn't lose bluetooth connections anymore but sometimes it wouldn't come out of sleep mode and I would have to reboot it....

In the end I had a Logitech K400 that I bought for a Raspberry PI that wasn't getting used so I just hooked that up. It works great with the W510 and has a trackpad for those hard to hit targets in desktop mode. I haven't had it lose connection once.

Thanks but for me using WiFi equipment instead of Bluetooth is not a valuable permanent solution. Unless I miss something, Logitech k400 is not Bluetooth. Acer should fix this issue.

Can you attempt to update with "Driver Package 2.04" please?

Hi, i did so and, I still have the same issue. I reinstalled from the recovery disks and noticed that it happens after severals windows updates. Unfortunately, I do not know wich update is the culprit.

If you have determined that a Windows update is causing the issue:

Restore the system prior to those Windows updates.

Install only ONE update at a time.

Determine if that ONE update is causing the issue.

This approach will take additional time, but will allow you to eliminate a possible update that is causing issues.

any idea what the clear-fi apps did to stop this problem from occurring? I'm having the same issue with a bluetooth keyboard. The trick of not allowing the Wifi adapater to be turned off seems to be working so far but I'm concerned this may lead to less battery time.
