Camera Crashes on A500 A700

Camera crashes often especially when using zxing barcode scanner application. Have been running into this issue on A500 and A700, both devices give the following error in the log file. :

E/N v O m x Camera ( 117): O M X _ERRORTYPE android::N v O m x Camera:: get Camera Stereo Mode And Capture Info(N v x Component*, N v O m x Camera User Stereo Mode&, N V X _ STEREO CAPTURE INFO &):get Camera Stereo Mode failed with 0x00000000

 

E/NvOmxCamera( 117): OMX_ERRORTYPE android::NvOmxCamera::getCameraStereoMode(NvxComponent*, NvOmxCameraUserStereoMode&): Error: invalid NVX mode 0.

 

Upon opening the camera the screen would go blank with a blackout and often the device would automatically restart.
And other times there would be a green pixelated hangup of the screen and I would need to force restart the device.

Have searched this error on Google and people have had this issue without any resolution so far.
