so it is my understading that even though it is not the prefered method high speed hdmi can support up to 120 hz refresh rates. I am how ever not getting anything over 60hz as an option. Also windwos will not allow me to install the correct drivers for the montior stating that the genric ones it has installed are up to date. I have this moniter hooked up to my laptop that only has hdmi and vga ports. it is MSI cx6i2pc. if there any method to force refresh rate and or driver installtion perhaps?

    roddmol,

These instructions are how to install the monitor "drivers", which just tell the computer the capabilities of the monitor features (resolutions, bit depth, etc).

Have you tried to connect a DVI-D cable to see if you can achieve 120 Hz refresh rates?
