Acer Aspire Nitro V15 VN-591G-73SF - Nvidia 960M graphics card not working!

Hi,

I really hope someone here can help me out. I just bought a brand new Acer, with an Nvidia 960M graphics card with 4gig dedicated.

However I cannot seem to get it to work. It's there if I check my device manager. Hardware system check software does detect the video card, however the Nvidia Geforce Experience Software does not detect it.

I cannot choose the Nvidia card as the main video card for the games I want to play, or change any settings in the Nvidia control panel.

I tried playing The Witcher 3, if it runs at all the video and audio are out sync, and it crashes the computer.

I already tried the latest drivers etc. Nothing seems to work...

Please help!

To make sure you are using teh discreet video chipset please make sure your notebook is plugged into ac power, there could be something (setting in power plans possibly) disabling the use of it to conserve power.

Dear Justin,

I have run it only with the notebook plugged into the AC.

The notebook has been to the Acer repair center and has come back. The turn arround time was one week, so that is fairly ok.

What is not ok is that they just did a clean install of the preloaded software and a flash of the Bios and then assumed the problem was solved.

It is not. The power settings are not the issue. If the issue is not hardware related. (And I still suspect the Nvidia card here). Then apperently there is just no software/driver combination out there yet that will allow me the high end gaming I was looking for when I bought this machine.

If thats the case Acer should own up to it and say so. Instead of beating arround the bush.
