Hoping someone can help me out on this.
I have the SW5-012-19RC 32GB model. I've tried installing from the ISO on usb key using a OTG adapter, USB in the keyboard slot as well as Windows Update to upgrade my tablet to Windows 10 IP. All failed for 1 reason or another.
I read here to use RUFUS to create a bootable USB stick, setup with FAT32 and GPT. I can now use this to boot from. It gives me the option of using the USB stick or the Windows boot record when I boot up the tablet. USB stick is plugged in via USB OTG.
However when I try to do an in place upgrade of Win8.1. It gives me an error that says I need to run the update from within Windows.
If I choose the Advanced method it takes me to a list of all my partitions. So here are my questions on this before I potentially brick my tablet. This is a secondary machine so not too much of an issue just don't want to have to deal with having to put it all back together if I can.
- Do I want to erase everything to create 1 large 32GB partitition and install Win10 to that?
- If I do Option 1 will I get the full version of Win10 when it becomes available? This is Win8.1 with Bing so there is no Windows key. It's tied to the serial number on the mobo if I've read correctly on the intertubes. How does that work in this situation
- If something gets borked and the install doesn't work or I need to go back to Win8.1 with Bing. How would I do that? Should I use the Acer Recovery Manager to create a backup first and that's all I need?
I think that's all my questions.
Looking forward to hearing from the community
