Laptop Aspire 5735 won't power on

Hi!

My Aspire 5735 wont power on. (battery is flat but the charger/adaptor works fine, i have tried it on another laptop). I have tried to unplug the power and/or battery and turn it on/press the power on for 30-50 seconds - nothing happens. There's no sign of life, no driver sound nothing.

It's like the laptop wont take/connect to the charger.

Is it a lost case and i should buy a new laptop (this one is pretty old after all) or does anybody know if this is fixable? Could ot be the motherboard-dcjack cabel which has stopped working, or are there other things which might cause this problem?

Any suggestions what might help solve the problem are most gratefully recieved!

If it won't power up on the known-good charger with the battery removed, you either have defective/loose jack connections as you suggest or mainboard controller. The former might be fixable if it's rather obvious by inspection.
