I bought my first Acer last fall. It's the Aspire R14  From day 1 the WIFI keepd dropping out. I did all the obvious stuff, updated driver. Uninstalled the adapter and re-installed. Updated the BIOS, Changed the adapter settings from power save to none. I have searched the internet and found Acer has a real big problem across their laptop line with dropping WIFI and slow speeds. Acer wants me to ship the laptop to Texas for so called repairs. Every feed I have read says Acers "Repair" involves changing the adapter and that still does not fix the problem. Has anyone changed the adapter on one of these laptops? Is there another fix? This might be my first and last Acer. They don't seem to address commonly know issues.

    phoffman,

If you would like to see if this helps improve it, you can try this:

Device Manager -> Network Adapters -> Intel dual band wireless -> Advanced Setting -> Disable “U-APSD Support”

If that does not work, a repair with Acer would be the next step.

I had the same problem when I bought this model, actually what worked was driver "downgrade" to (Atheros Wireless LAN Driver V10.0.0.263)

I tried several versions going down from the last upgrade until I found the driver that worked best and it’s working fine now for the last 3 months., You may need to deactivate automatic driver update so it would not revert to the “newer” version on Windows update.
