Aspire E 15 Screen refuses to go off! Please Help

Hello All, I am a newbie to the Acer family having been a long time HP owner. My Acer which is about 3 weeks old is a 

Es1-512-c96s, the problem appeared about 2 weeks after purchase. The problem is whenever I close the laptop lid the screen stays on instead of sleeping. I can however push the power or sleep button and the screen will shut off and sleep. I have went through all of the power settings to make sure the lid and sleep settings are set correctly on lid closer as well as set them back to defaults, As a last resort I did a bios update and reset the computer to factory settings. Anyway any help on this matter would put my faith back in this Acer which I truly love other than this problem. Thanks

If you have restored to factory defaults everything should be set to defaults. How long have you waited to see if it goes into sleep mode, depending on what is open and running may slow the process down and it could take a bit.

 

Since you have restored it to factory defaults I would recommend checking in the power options where it says "choose what closing the lid does" to make sure it is set to go to sleep. I would also recommend you check your power plan settings again to make sure everything is set right for on battery and on ac power.
