My wife's laptop keeps shutting down, especially when playing games. I suspect the cooling fan, is there any way to check this? I know some BIOS have a function that monitors the fan RPM and the CPU temp.... could not find anything in the BIOS. It also seems that Acer Quick Access and the CoolBlast function are not available for this model.

I have built a laptop cooling tray with 2 x USB powered 14cfm fans, one under the CPU Cooling fan vent and the other under the hard drive vent. This does not seem to be helping.

Where can I get the correct part number for the cooling fan for this model, there are apparently two different fan/heatsink combos for the 7540 series of laptops.

    Hello,

Here is the part number of the heatsink with the fan:

    60.PJD01.001HEATSINK.CPU.UMA.W/FAN

You can request a quote and place an order from your Acer store in using the customer service form.

    In the form:

1- You select in "Please Select a Subject: Other"

2- In "Describe the Problem:", you indicate the S/N of the computer.

    3- Example:

"Price request for the following spare parts:

         - P/N, description

         - Etc"

You'll receive a quote by mail (pdf document). You can also phone them.

May I ask if you had any success with this? I seem to be having the same issue.

I put more powerful fans in the lap tray, the problem has gone away
