PIcture moved 5cm to the left

Hello,

I have been using my x223w display for a few years without a problem.

But two days ago, the picture on the display has moved about 5cms to the left, showing only a black area at the right.

I have always used to native setting 1680x1050. After checking all kinds of things, I changed the resolution in the Win 7 Software from 1680x1050 to 1600x1200.... and the picture fills the whole again.

But of course the picture is not very good...

I talked to NVidia, but we found it has nothing to do with them, as we also found that the displacement of the screenpicture starts already when the computer is started. The logo of the Rock motherboard, which is the first thing that appears after switching the computer on,  is already moved to the left...

How can I get the display which otherwise works fine back to "normal"?

Thanks, RD

PS: The only driver that is offered for the x223w says it is for VIsta and not Win7 and when trying to download in spite of this, no driver actually will come....

    rossdorn,

If you are using Windows 7 it should have found drivers for the monitor as an optional update, that is where my monitor drivers are always listed on systems I use. If you go into the BIOS of your computer and just sit there, the image is shifted as well? You can try to access the OSD menu and see about trying to horizontally shift the display to the right.

    The problem is this.

When I start up the computer and the first screen (from the motherboard) comes up, it is moved to the left, in the bios is like that also of course.

When the monitor is set to the native resolution of 1680x1050, everything remains moved to the lieft.

When I set it back one resolution to 1600x1200 all the start up pages remain on the left, once Win starts it will be centered, but obviously not as sharp as the native resolution was.

The osd allows me to move the picture no further than maybe one cm, which of course could never be enough and would not have anything to do with the problemin the first, right? BUT even if I do that, then the picture at its right border simply vanishes where the black begins.

I cannot download a driver to my Win 7 ulti, because I get the usual message for this situation: "Your software does not suupport this."

I have used both computer and display for three years, I added an SSD last year, and no software was installed before the change happened

    One more thing:

When I plug this display into another of our computers with Win7 running, the problem is exactly the same...

The 1680x1050 (native) resolutionwill no longer be cebtered. The ACER driver for this display does not appear when I try to download it, just three files, none of which is a driver! ACER web site also tells me that the available driver is ONLY for vista.

And the acer website  is designed in a way that it is not possible to contact them! Great service....

    rossdorn,

Thank you for the update. As far as drivers go on the Acer support site, what is listed is going to be the most current that will be uploaded for this monitor. As far as getting in touch with an Acer representative, I am one and our chat support team should also be able to be contacted. Depending on the age of the monitor will limit the amount of support that can be provided, it sounds like the monitor itself is having a hardware issue. If the monitor is out of warranty we would not be able to repair it as out of warranty repairs are not done on monitors.

I'd like to see if there is anything that I can do to help, could you please PM me the following information?

Yes it is moved to the left even in the BIOS, the only time it is cebterd, ois when I set the resolution to 1600x1200

The point about the driver on the acer website that I am making is

       THERE IS NO DRIVER !!!!!!!°

    rossdorn,

I would like to clarify what there is to download to make sure there is no confusion about what the "drivers" listed for this monitor do. INF files are not drivers, but informational files that tell Windows what resolutions, bit depth, refresh rate, etc that the monitor supports. The reason monitors do not have "drivers" is that they all conform to the VESA specifications, which allows graphics cards to output in a standard format that all monitors understand.

If Windows 7 did not detect your monitor information to download and install as an optional driver you can attempt to use the information we have posted on our website. If you would like to look it over, we have an article that explains how to utilize those files.

    Thank you, but......

Your website shows this general attitude towards questions. If one understands the answer, one would not have asked the question in the first place.

You see.... When I go to the acver website to find maybe an update for a driver, then I expect what is offered as a driver download, to contain an actuzal DRIVER! If the description of the dowmload even tells me that this is a ONLY a vista driver, then it is actually quite normal, not to find a driver.

So maybe it would be nice if BEFORE one downloads one gets info which you are giving me now, two weeks after I asked the question?

Still... thank you for giving the right answer
