Question of installing appropriate hdmi video card to Acer M275.

I have purchased a Acer M275 Desktop Intel Pentium E6600 @ 3.06 GHZ 3GB RAM 320GB HDD. I did not see any upgraded components when I opened it to clear the dust inside. The listed specs are as follows;

Genuine Windows® 7 Professional , 32-bit version, Intel® Pentium® Processor E6600 (2MB Intel® Smart Cache, 3.06GHz, 1066MHz FSB), 3GB (2/1) DDR3 SDRAM, 320GB SATA hard drive, Super-Multi drive, Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X4500, gigabit LAN, Microsoft® Office Professional 2007 (60-day trial)

also I got his on the power supply,

So my question is that I want to purchase a vidoe/graphic card with an hdmi connection, which mine does not have. I'm not too concerned with playing games. I am interested in keeping windows 7 due to some programs that have not been adjusted for Win 8.1 and probably will take even longer to be adapted to Win 10. I was looking at several HD5450/HD6450 cards with at least 1gb memory. I'm I on the right track or should it be less than 1gb memory? I will appreciate all responses. Thank you

I think 1 GB of memory would be fine. Because that memory is on the graphics card.

I would look for a card with 1 GB memory.

The tricky part is finding the right card so that you won't have a major bottleneck.

In other words, if your card is too good, then your CPU will be the bottleneck.

If your card is not good enough, then your card will be the bottleneck.

How much money are your looking to spend on a graphics card?

Edit: I re-read your post and see that you're not concerned about playing games. So I suspect most any dedicated graphics card that you decide on will be better than what you've currently got. You'll just have to check the specs on power supply required for the card. Some of the newer cards have very low power consumption and will work fine with a 300 watt power supply. But you just have to read the specs on the card.

Let me clarify. So what I want to do is hook up two PCs to my 22in HDTV. I've had a KVM switch set-up. I had two computers working fine until my win7 pc died as a result of a bad surge protector during a recent (yet common) lightning strike on a transformer a few houses away. The other pc, that I like to keep up-to-date and was newer survived because I had it on a newer surge protector and a different outlet. Since I still needed a win7 pc to work on some programs that were never updated to work on Win 8.1, I bought this pc and loaded win7 on a reformated hdd. I figured I could either get a cheap video card (pc only cost me $35 with shipping, just needed a win7 pro download) or an adapter to the current vga or usb.

The problem is my kvm switch is HDMI for video/sound I guess, and USB for mouse/keyboard.

So, the set up is hdtv/monitor hdmi cable to KVM switch base front where there is also a usb slot for keyboard and another slot for usb mouse. From the KVM base back are two set of cables to each of my pc's, a usb cable and an hdmi cable. I tried just the usb cable from the switch to this pc and a direct vga to the back of the monitor, but the KVM switch will not work to allow for the keyboard and mouse to work, I guess because of the vga connection from this pc to the monitor.

What do folks think? Will a USB to hdmi work on the KVM switch or vga to HDMI connector.
