Hello community, I own an Acer A200 32gb Tablet. I have just been hit by a malware virus that has locked down my screen regardless of what i do. Can anyone advise me as to what I can do to get rid of it. I am in the UK and the virus, as I have found out, is quite common. It is called the Cheshire Police E crime virus. To unlock the tablet it demands £100.0. Clearly I'm not going to part with any money!

probably the only solution is to hard reset it, you will loose all your personal data:

    I'm not an Acer employee.

Thanks very much for responding to my dilemma. I tried several times to do what you have suggested but it made no difference, which makes me think that, either I did something wrong or the malware prevented me doing it. Either way, I have now taken the device to my local PC repair centre and will have to pay for the privelege. There wasn't anything on the tablet I am concerned about, as everything is backup, it's just a pain. Thankfully it hasn't infected my Mac.
