RufonRufon Posts: 1Member

I already sent my Laptop to Service Center here in Manila

but after one week the problem came back again. They said

in the report that the touchpad was replaced. Can anyone tell me,

how is that possible? What's the problem? How can i fix this. For now i am disappointed to Acer Product.

    Rufon,

If you have reinstalled the drivers for the touchpad to rule out software then it could be something else. If the touch pad itself was replaced it could either be a different piece of hardware, the cable that connects it, the touch pad itself, or the operating system. If you've performed a system restore to before it started freezing up and made sure the issue exists there I would recommend that you contact the Acer Technical support again to see what options you have available are.

Hi everyone, I also have intermittent / unresponsive touchpad.

I installed O&O CleverCache, I then set the profile to the third option [AutoSense - Maximize file cache]

This is what the program claims to do:- O&O CleverCache prevents those infamous program and application “freezes” where usually only closing the program with the Windows Task Manager can help. Simply install O&O CleverCache and let it take care of your computer or servers memory management. It seems to work for me

I think they have a trial period so that others with Touchpad problems can see if it also works for them.

Other memory manager programs might work equally as well.

    Hi Rufon,

Your Acer very likely has a hardware fault as well as many others.
Not the touchpad itself, but the ground connection of the touchpad board to the laptop Metalchassis is incorrect. Mine had the same problem, but i could fix it.
You must send your Laptop to Acer service (in case of guarantee) or fit the problem by yourself, it is not difficult.

I also sent in my Laptop to Acer service. After 2 weeks the problem was back. Now i opened the laptop by myself.
The technician from Acer has mounted the additional earth connection so small and sloppy that it has disconnected. I mounted a new and wider conductive adhesive tape. Now the ground connection of the touchpad is the best and i have no more problems.

I recommend you not to solder (it is possible to demage the touchpad), but to use a conductive adhesive tape. You can purchase this in electronic stores or online. Attention: Also the adhesive surface must be electrically conductive.

The touchpad Board has two bare copper surfaces. One left and one right. Left, a ground strap is attached. right, nothing is pasted. You have to mount there an additionally ground connection to the laptop chassis.
See the above link with description.
Now cut an approx. 50 mm long and 4 mm wide tape piece. Glue this strip lengthwise exactly on the bare right copper area and continue on the metal housing of the touchpad. If the tape is too long, simply cut off.
Caution, do not glue or touch other contacts.
Then cut a 1 cm wide and about 6 cm long piece of conducitve tape.
Connect the metal chassis of the laptop with the metal housing of the touchpad. You can also use the touchpad mounting screws to additionally fix the tape.

Thats it, now your Touchpad should work fine.
