Tinkerer

I have entered recovery menu to perform factory reset in a last hope effort to snap my Iconia out of KK update stupor, and ended up with a tablet that now wont even turn on.

It wont start, it gives no response.

Any ideas?

Press and hold the power button to make sure it's fully turned off, wait a bit then turn it on. If you get anything let us know what you see. If it was in the middle of the KitKat update when it failed there's no telling what shape the firmware is in. If it boots part way and then crashes you might be able to recover by booting to recovery mode (power plus volume buttons) with an SD card insterted that have the correct OS image to reocver. Which image to try with is a combination of which locale you are in plus which boot image is there. They changed the boot image between Jelly Bean and KitKat, so if the new booter is installed you have to do KitKat for the OS. If the upgrade didn't get the new boot loader than you could recover with the JB image.
