I did a compatibilty check prior to upgrading my O/S to Win 7 Ultimate 32-bit from Win Vista Home Basic  and saw no issues other than needing to updated a couple of drivers. Now I'm reading that my Acer 193WXB Monitor isn't compatible at all or I'm not finding an update or patch. Says I need to update my Bios but doesn"t tell me how to accommplish this task only how to find my current ver. which I have done. I am a widow on SS and cannot afford a new monitor or to screw up my bios or able to pay a tech man to repair. Plz help. ! I also need help with my DVDRW/CD-ROM driver update from mitsumi ? Changes frequently. ! min. says no cd/dvd in the drive. Says dvd/cd not rewrittable ( which it is and not finilized ), can't recognise the cd one moment then the dvd the next. I have gone into reg. edit and the boxes I was to look for and uncheck if there are not there. Still scratching head over updating bios, went to manuf. site for driver update and that site is a joke and no help, did a web-search and asked for driver there. Can't afford to pay for this stupid driver but doubt they truely have it anyway as the few sites that said they did and was FREE advertised the correct driver but offered no visible way that I could find to download and install it.. Between this all ticking me off and stressing me out I'll have a dang stroke kill over and will no longer at that point need the dang UPDATES !!  lol Again any help is greatly appreciated !

PS>S (duh) my dvd/cd is  Not sure if this is normal but all the info I'm fixing to list shows up in various places on my puter for this same item.  MITSUMI CR-48X5TE ATA Device , DVDCDRW Model # HL_DT_ST GSA H20L ATA Device, HL-DT-STDVDRRW GSA-H20L, 16X DVDR/RWRAMR DL LightScribe Drive CD/CD-RW/DVD/DVD+RW, . Mitsumi CD-ROM Drive 6.0.6002.18005:ide Cyberlink DVD Play Sonic Digital Media Plus 7.04 ,Sonic My DVD Plus 6.2. Lordy I sure ope some! out there can make heads or tales out of all there then then break it down and explian to me what I need to do as if they were dealing with some! in headstart !! lol   Thx !!

    Monitor:

I'm not able to really narow down this specific model you are referring to, it looks like there are a couple 193 models out there. Could you be a little more specific as to the model number (P193, X193, etc)? I'm going ot assume that you used the Windows 7 Compatibility checker and that let you know the monitor wasn't compatible? Did it specify that it wasn't compatible due to not having any touch features? I don't see any reason why the monitor wouldn't be able to be used normally, minus the touch feature, but it should still work.

    DVDRW/CD-ROM:

I would look into the manufacturer of the unit's site to see if they have a driver for it, but optical drives generally use generic Windows drivers. When you upgrade to Windows 7 it might fix the optical drive problems you are having, but check with the manufacturer of the unit first.
