How to optimize the battery life in acer switch 10 Full HD

In the manual of acer switch 10 Full HD on page 44 it is written that:

 

In addition, the useful lifespan of the battery is adversely affected by
the following usage patterns:
• Using the computer on constant AC power.

 

Then furthur below it states:

You are advised to follow the suggestions set out below:
• Use AC power whenever possible, reserving battery for mobile use.

 

These sounds contraductory to each other. What should I do? Which statement is the correct one?

Yes, though I'd think every week is liable to be overkill. Maybe once a month would be more like it. I don't think I've seen studies on the frequency required for optimal battery life.

They are actually both correct, but it's a fuzzy line between them. Leaving the machine on constant power means the battery is never exercised, and it will eventually get into a state where it will no longer support a drop in charge, so you should periodically allow the battery to discharge under load, then recharge. Leaving the battery over long periods in a partially discharged state will get it to a condition where it will no longer recharge fully, so you should charge it fully as often as you can.
