ACER ASPIRE ONE 532h-2268 replacement touch pad

The touch pad and control buttons on my ASPIRE ONE 532h-2268 are not working.

  • FN & F7 have no effect.
  • Touch pad is not listed in Device Manager.
  • The program HWVendor detection does not provide any information about the touch pad.
  • Ribbins are seated in the connectors.
  • Information regarding replacement parts can not be found on the ACER support site.

I would like to order a new touch pad, however, there were apparently three different types used in this model.

Drivers for the following touch pads are listed on the ACER support site:

  • ALPS
  • ELANTECH
  • Synaptics

Does the replacement touch pad have to be the same brand as the OEM one?

    Hello,

Could you give me the first ten characters of the laptop serial number (S/N)? Only the first ten.

    First 10 digits of S/N: 2760163940

Not sure if you meant digits, or symbols, so here is the complete S/N: [edited to comply with guidelines]

SNID: [edited to comply with guidelines]

    LU.SAL0D.276 - Aspire One 532H-2DB

    You need this part: 60.SAL02.002 - COVER.UPPER.W/O.BT.WITH TP.BLUE

I suppose you talk about this one.

Thanks for the information. It costs much less than I expected.

Do you know if its comon for the touch pad and the buttons to fail at the same time?

    It seems kind of odd.

    Hello,

1- When you write "FN & F7 have no effect", do you mean the hot keys (ex:[Fn]+[F1])?

In this case, have you tried to re-intall Acer Launch Manager?

    LaunchManagerDritekLaunchManager Application3.0.113.1 MB2012/04/05Download

2- When you'll have the new Touch Pad, you'll be able to find the correct driver with the vendor ID:

See this tutorial: Finding unknown devices

3- You could request a quote and place an order from your Acer store in using the customer service form.

    In the form:

1- You select in "Please Select a Subject: Other"

2- In "Describe the Problem:", you indicate the S/N of the laptop.

    3- Example:

"Price request for the following spare parts:

         - P/N, description

         - Etc"

You'll receive a quote by mail (pdf document). You can also phone them.

I am not sure what the function of FN & F1 is. But FN & F7 is supposed to disable/enable the touch pad.

I have reinstalled Launch Manager, although it is listed under keyboard in device manager.

In system information, there is a "PS2" device listed as missing or disabled.

The replacement pad is only $14, my only concern is if it will actually resolve the problem.

    Hello,

If the others hot keys works, the replacement pad will resolved your issue.

Have you tested the following hot keys:

<Fn> + <F1> Hotkey help: Displays help on hotkeys.

<Fn> + <F2> Acer eSettingsManagement: Launches Acer eSettings Management in Acer Empowering Technology.

<Fn> + <F3> Acer ePower Management: Launches Acer ePower Management in Acer Empowering Technology.

<Fn> + <F4> Sleep: Puts the computer in Sleep mode.

<Fn> + <F5> Display toggle: Switches display output between the display screen, external monitor (if connected) and both.

<Fn> + <F6> Screen blank: Turns the display screen backlight off to save power. Press any key to return.

<Fn> + <F7> TouchPad toggle: Turns the internal TouchPad on and off.

<Fn> + <F8> Speaker toggle: Turns the speakers on and off.

    etc

You must be thinking of a different system...

Fn + F1 does not appear to have a function

    Fn + F2 Enables / Disables 3G wireless

    Fn + F3 Enables / Disables Bluetooth

    Fn + F4 Sleep mode

    Fn + F5 Display toggle

    Fn + F6 Screen blank

Fn + F7 Touch pad toggle

    Fn + F8 Speaker toggle

Fn + (arrow right) Brightness up

Fn + (arrow left) Brightness down

Fn + (arrow up) Volume up

Fn + (arrow down) Volume down

    Hello,

We have a general documentation of Aspire One. it must be different according to the models.

Have you tested the hotkeys listed in your reply?

    Yes. Everything appears to work.

    One correction: Fn + F2 Enables / Disables 3G wireless and/or Wi-Fi.

    Hello,

It means your touch pad is really defective. It's for this reason that [Fn]+[F7] isn't working (no touch pad).

    So replace it.
