Acer Aspire TimelineX 5830TG speaker crackling

Hello,

I can't stand this anymore. It's soooooo annoying:

Everytime I listen to music, watch a movie or play a game, the speakers of my Acer Aspire TimelineX 5830TG crackle very annoyingly.

I tried updating drivers and disabling Dolby Home Theater, ...

The sound is perfectly alright when I connect external bluetooth speakers or headphones but whenever I use the internal speakers or the audio jack with external speakers, theres a horrible crackling/noisy sound which makes my terribly upset because I love listening to music and listen to music all day long.

It's also awkward when watching movies with friends.

I think it's more intense when I use the computer intensively (many or big programs running) but it still occurs sometimes when I shut down nearly everything.

It's way more intense when I activate Dolby Home Theater, but it's still present when I disable it.

It's louder when I increase my laptop audio volume.

It might be a audio card buffer problem? If I knew how to fix it I would try it...

My system:

Acer Aspire TimelineX 5830TG

Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit) with SP 1

Intel i5-2450M @2.5-2.9GHz

nvidia GT 540M 2GB

8GB RAM (used to have 4GB but the problem was the same)

500GB Samsung 840 SSD (used to have the 750GB HDD until it suddenly stopped working - saving my files was so **bleep** close, but that's another story)

and probably most important:

Conexant High Definition Audio with driver version 8.54.6.0

(tried different ones but this is the original one I got from the Acer Driver Update page)

As I said - with bluetooth speakers connected the problem doesn't exist.

This didn't help because I don't have the 'Intel(r) Technology Access Service' on my computer.

This didn't help because a) the crackling is gone when I mute my speakers and b) I upgraded to a SSD

Please help me, I'm so desperate!

I uploaded a fule so you can listen to the misery by yourself:

Oh nice, no direct links...

    matzeatweb,

It is very strange that this would be happening when using both speakers and the audio port. I'd like to rule out software, which is just removing and installing the drivers from our support site to see if the issue persists.

How long has this been happening, recently or long ago?

    Hello,

    I only use Acer Drivers.

It roughly a year after I bought the laptop I guess, but I can't remember exactly.

During that time it didn't really bother me but now that I use my laptop for music more intensively it is a problem.

However I read quite a few posts with people having the same problem, but most of the time they just proposed to update drivers or to send in the laptop to the service (I tried that with 2 other devices and I definitely don't have good experience with that because the device is gone for at least a month the problems I reported were not fixed - however all my data was gone and I had to spend a bazillion of hours setting u everything again.)

I would be very glad if you have any more hints or ideas what to do...

Is there a way to change the buffer size in the sound card for example?

I think it's more of a sowtware problem rather than a hardware problem (loose connection or EMC noise) because the sound is lagging sometimes, it's like the sound card hasn't got enough sound data to output and therefore remains silent for a few milliseconds until it resumes. If I use my CPU extensively, that happens severel times a second which results in a very noisy and lagging sound.

Is the sound card integrated (using party of the RAM/CPU?) and can I increase the memory/CPU priority for the soundcard? (registry, settings, editing the driver, ...)

    Bests,

    Matthias

    matzeatweb,

Here are a couple suggestions I can think of.

    1. Remove your current installed audio driver and install the one from our support site rather than just trying to update them. I see that we have this version posted for your system; Audio - Conexant8.54.1.55, versus the 8.54.6.0 version you have installed currently.
    2. Update your BIOS if it is newer than what you have currently installed, we have version 1.12 posted, dated 11/13/2012.
    3. Do you only experience this crackling sound when using the Conexant audio software using a certain mode?

I have the same problem. How do I use the Bluetooth audio is all about. How to let audio for speakers or headphones - the sound crackling.

    ad1. I checked both drivers

    ad2. BIOS is update

ad3. "Conexant audio software using a certain mode?" - What does it mean ?

ps. It often happens that the sounds everything is ok.

    EDIT:

I checked another driver for Win 8 64bit - Conexant Audio Driver 8.54.39.50 2012/10/18 - no change. But surely it is associated with Dolby. How do I turn off Dolby while playing a song - crackling is disappears.

    EDIT_2:

This is not Dolby. Dolby only enhances sound crackling.

    tOOmki,

If you wish to use Bluetooth speakers you just need to pair them with your notebook. After they are paired, you will need to set them as the default device in the sound manager.

Are you using the most up to date Intel chipset driver we have posted, or maybe a newer version from Intel themselves?
