I have an older Acer desktop, 2008 which has failed and there is no way to fix it without the back up disks for the operating system. (This is the component that was the subject of a class action law suit against Acer) I want to buy them but can find no way to contact customer service directly. I have called every number that I can find with no help...I was told by a technician that there is no such thing available. (I know the folks who won the lawsuit are going to be upset, because these disks are to be awarded to all in the class!!) I was told that it could be remotely accessed for repair by Acer for around $130 I was told to take it to a shop in Great Britain. Since I live in the US, this was a little far to go. I have tried to have the information (several thousand photos) retrieved on an an external hard drive but since the operating system is dead...I am unable to get to the information. The computer has been in the shop for 12 weeks now while I have tried over and over to find someone in customer service. A computer answering machine told me that my computer's serial number was not one of theirs and then it hung up on me. When I called back the computer told me that I had called before about this matter and hung up on me again.. Maybe somewhere out there, someone who has been able to make contact with the wizard of Acer behind the curtain and will share this information with me... Thanks C J S
