It would depend on whether Google has Chrome drivers for your modem. In most cases isn't doesn't make much difference, since most people have internet connections that are much slower than 802.11N speeds. Smiley Happy

    Hi, thanks for the reply.

Is there a list someplace where one can check what devices are supported with drivers for chrome OS and which are not?

My problem as largely been resolved anyhows. Have just got the new cable- router delivered. Not only does it support wifi AC - but also does a better job of wifi in general. It supports simultaneous transmission on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz and has better antenna system. Speeds I am getting now are fine at wifi -N.

Good news. It doesn't suprise me, most of the AC routers I have seen do very good jobs with N clients.

It's one of my go to bookmarks. https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/183093?hl=en

Unfortunately, it does not appear that they have external dongle support wireless devices.

    Hope this helps,
