Switch 10 SW5-012 CPU frequency drops when charger is plugged in

Hello,

I have the problem, as soon as I plug in the charger, the CPU frquency drops and runs at a maximum of 0.48 GHz and the whole system becomes really slow. On battery it runs normal. But its definitely no heat problem, because it happens right after I plugged it in.

I have installed the latest drivers and bios (1.13), can't tell it was different with older versions.

Has anyone experienced the same or knows how to fix it?

Thanks

Under Control Panel>Power Options>Change Power Settings there are two sets of settings, one for "on battery" and another for "plugged in". I'd look in under Advanced Settings particularly Maximum Processor State for a sub-opimal setting for Plugged In.

Under Advanced Settings there is no Setting for the Processor State. Seems there is something wrong with the Power Options. I can't change the Power Saving Mode, it's always balanced. Also I can't create a new Power Saving Plan...

    Hey,

    no real solution yet.

I experienced that the problem of dropping CPU frequency when plugged in is not always present.

But I could not find a reason for this different behavior.

    Hi,

I had the same problem: 0,48GHz if charger was plugged in.

I found a quite simple solution by setting the power options to standard while operating the system in battery mode.

Afterwards CPU clock remains same even charger is plugged.

    <Systemsteuerung\Hardware und Sound\Energieoptionen\Energiesparplaneinstellungen ändern\Standardeinstellungen für diesen Energiesparplan wiederherstellen>

If you like, you can update/change your energy saving options here after. The system seems to keep the setting for higher (variable) system clock (frequency).

The feeling about performance is better - if the 0,48GHz had not been a monitoring issue only. I don't know...

    Regards

Hey, I just tried this trick once and it worked!

It's no perfect solution but if it keeps working in the future, it's already a big help.

    Thank you!
