Acer S3 391 bios update problem, (laptop doesnt shut down)

Hello,

I have S3 391, windows 8 UEFI version

laptop does not shut down, the power light stays on, and fan blowing, unless I shut it down by keeping power button pressed for a long time.

I thought It was because of SSD, but got other same laptop, and it has no issues nor on HDD nor on SSD.

the difference between this 2 is that faulty one has bios 2.10. (the working one 2.09)

I tryied all software things to correct issue but no luck, seems like bios problem

but i CAN NOT update bios, as it says wrong firmware image after flashing in windows and reboot.

I tried 2.11, 2.14, 2.17(latest) same on all

when Tried 2.09, it says that current bios is newer.

So, any suggestions how can I update bios? I tried from 8.1, and reseted on 8 and tried on that also, no luck

try this:

format an USB flash drive (smaller than 1GB if possible) to FAT or FAT32, copy the BIOS file named xxxx.FD to the USB flash drive.

connect AC power, press Fn+ESC then press the power button, Release the Fn + Esc keys after POST.

will it work and update bios and dont brick it?

why then official version says invalid firmware image? can be there any compatibility issues?

if your factory BIOS was 2.xx version, update to 2.17 must work.

try to load defaul settings on BIOS (press F9 on BIOS, then press F10 save&exit), then try to use the BIOS flash tool again.

the Fn+ESC+Power is an official procedure to flash BIOS when corrupted....but i can't assure that it will not brick your laptop.

it seems that enters recovery mode, but cant find or load bios

maybe problem in name? I tryed many options

the bios-mods website reccovery does not work.

and i think taking out battery doesnt have any importance, as s3 has builtin battery, and second, it actually seems to enter in recovery.

problem is, why it says invalid image?

I see that with FN + esc it enters rec mode and reads flash drive. but no recovery

1) or filename is invalid

2) bios cant be updated
