does win7 32 bit starter recognize more than 1g ram on aspire one d270-1607?

tried to install 2gb of ram on netbook,doesnt say its there but it uses about 45% of ram on meter compared to 85-90% with one gb.no more freezeups and works like a new machine,little slow processor but works for me.still have win7 32 bit version installed.
