Cannot burn audio CD's

I have an 8 month old Aspire V5-561P that will not recognize a blank cd. I want to burn a cd with either Windows Media Player or third party software, but neither of these programs recognize a blank cd. Playing a music cd or dvd is fine, I have no difficulties with that. It's ONLY when I try to burn a blank that I run into trouble.

Any recommendations?

Focus servo error, means that the lens can't find a good positionfor the laser ray.
Try another support brand and if it still gives you this error, probably it's an hardware issue.

have you tried with infrarecorder or imgburn?

normally they will create a log if any issue is found.

Have you tried with different CD brand?

Thanks for the suggestions. I had tried Windows Media Player, iTunes, and Ashampoo. Just tried imgburn and got a "focus servo error." My laptop manufacturer's forum suggests getting better quality discs. I thought memorex would be a good brand. I'll see if I can find better.

Thank you for your advice, IronFly. I bought a different brand of CD-R discs (Verbatim) and they worked fine. Glad to know it was not a problem with my computer.
