I have had my acer timelineU for about 3.5 years now. Around year one, I started getting these weird shutdowns where the entire computer would make a "pop" noise, and just go black. All functions just instantly stopped. This seemes to happen more frequently when I closed the screen. It finally got to the point where it was so frequent that it would shut off again before I could even start it up. I sent it in for repairs, and it returned good as new. I have now had this updated machine for two years, and the problem is resurfacing. However, it seems to only crash upon closing the lid, and also happen around 95% of the time I close the lid. I set the setting for what happens when I closethe lid to "do nothing", which stopped the problem for about a month, but it is now back. The error happens within six seconds of closing the screen each time, and in event viewer it gives the following error:
ALso, I don't know if this means anything, but it insists on running CHKDSK every startup after this happens, and never finds any errors. This has been the case across the two identical machines I have access to, and across that repair in which they replaced the motherboard.
