Hi,

I have PACKARD BELL IMEDIA S2883 with preinstalled Windows 8.1. BIOS is UEFI and i can't fint option to change it to Legacy BIOS. In UEFI it's won't detect legacy boot devices even with Secure boot option disabled and Legacy USB enabled. Is there any way to use standart Legacy BIOS? Any help will be appreciated!

    Hi ANONIMNIQ,

Could you tell me what your current BIOS version is? Also, could you send me a private message with your Serial Number? I'll see what I can track down for you.

    Try this:

    http://packard-bell-scandic.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27071/~/how-to-enable-or-disable-secure-boot

    or this:

    1.Completely shut down your computer.

2.Power on the system. As soon as the first logo screen appears, immediately press Delete to enter the

    BIOS.

3.Use the right arrow key to select Authentication.

4.With Secure Boot highlighted, press Enter and then the down arrow to select Disabled.

5.Use the right arrow key to select Boot Options.

6.With Launch CSM highlighted, press Enter and use the down arrow to select Always.

    7.Press Enter.

8.Press the F10 key to save changes and restart the system

After a week talk with technical support, this is their final answer. I'm speechess!

Regarding your query, I would like to ask you where do you reside now.

If there is no region to select, then I am sorry to inform you that there is no other option.

You might have to check with the local technician or contact the place from where you bought this unit.

I recieved Cory's answer. In my case, the solution is to update to BIOS P11-B2. Now I have Launch CSM option and legacy media is detected, but I still have some problems to boot from the devices - When I trying to boot, my machine reboot, or get mesasage ""An operating system wasn't found. Try disconnecting any drives that don't contain an operating system.". I'm not sure where is the problem. I try to install seccond OS to my machine, but even live usb distributions won't boot properly in legacy mode. Is it possible to have Windows and Linux on the same machine?

BTW I don't have DVD drive, so I only tried with usb installations.

under Legacy and CSM, you can have 2 OS.

do you have also secure boot settings?

Yes, Secure boot is disabled and Launch CSM is Always.

I tried with Fedora live usb, and in UEFI mode it boots properly, but in legacy mode when I try to boot from the usb it shows me a message "An operating system wasn't found. Try disconnecting any drives that don't contain an operating system."

With Launch CSM enabled it's normal to stop detecting my current Windows 8 HDD partition, but I don't understand why it's not boot properly from the usb devices.

ok, I tried this and it's work properly - boot with no problem in legacy mode. So... what could be the problem with the other installers Smiley Sad

probably Fedora switched to UEFI boot to have windows 8.x working too, without messing with BIOS settings, apart maybe secure boot.

But that's strange, because I even tried to delete EFI folder from USB stick and unplugged my Windows HDD, but the result is the same.

check if the fedora partition on the USB is marked as active.

which kind of software are you using to burn iso to USB?

    rufus?

I use this to burn iso to usb:

    https://fedorahosted.org/liveusb-creator/

I make the usb partition active with diskpart and now when I try to boot from it I get this:
