Acer Aspire E5 571G wireless network problems

Hello!

I recently bought a new Acer Aspire E5 571G laptop and I've had problems with wireless network from the beginning.

It randomly loses connection and sometimes even shows that I'm connected with a good signal but cannot get Internet access.

I have the same problem in different networks, so it can't be caused by a router. Moreover, other computers that are connected to same network don't have the problem.

1) I have the newest drivers and I've tried reinstalling them.

2) The priority of my current wireless network is set to the highest.

3) Power options are changed to Maximum Performance.

About a week ago troubleshooting said that "Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings", so I unchecked every box under LAN settings.

Nothing has worked.

OS: win8

Sorry you 're having problems with the system, let's see if we can get it up and running for you. I realize that you said it has wireless problems connecting to any network, but the first troubleshooting step I would suggest would be to restart your router. I didn't see that listed in your steps and would like to troubleshoot it at the home location where it is most likely used the most.

Thank you for the quick answer, but unfortunately that is not the issue here.

I had not mentioned the restarting of the router earlier, but I have done it and that is just not cutting it.

At the time of writing a reply, my internet has been constantly disconnecting.. but at the same time, my friends laptop is still connected to the same router and is having no problems whatsoever with the wifi connection.

So therefore, please bear in mind, that Ive done every "simple" solution there is and Ive googled for a possible solution beforehand.

Thanks for the update. Well, you've did just about everything that I would suggest you do, the next step would be to contact our Acer technical support representatives and see about having the unit possibly serviced and tested to make sure the wireless card itself isn't bad.

I have the same problem; just bought the computer 3 days ago; internet keeps dropping out; I have 3 other computers in the house and all of them (even 8 years old) have good internet connectivity; but not the Newest Acer ??? All of the suggestions do not work for me; it must be a hardware problem (not software); I do not want to put the computer in for service after only 3 days, as it took me 2 days to set up the computer system and I use it for business - this is not acceptable !!! Come on Acer, this problem is not isolated to just a few people; give some "real" solutions and please stop guessing because you should know the solution.

I purchased an Acer Aspire E5-571G-79XU w8.1 notebook SNID is (removed per community guidelines) and I have updated all the drivers and the router has been turned off & on and the router settings are OK

I bought Acer Aspire E5-571G yesterday and i have same WiFi problem... It conects and few seconds after it disconects... My drivers are updated and my router is near my laptop... I need solution ASAP

As I stated to carmentaimre, it could be related to a Windows update, did the connection problem exist before the multitude of Windows updates were performed? These are new units, so there is going to be quite a few updates to perform, without knowing if it worked before updates were performed doing a system restore to before the updates were applied would be the starting point.

Hi Justin, As I said I only just bought it NEW. So knowing what it may have been the connection status previously is not relevant. Plus I have 2 other Acer laptops (one is 8 years old) and they both connect perfectly and they have had the same Windows updates. I also have a HP that connects perfectly. It is only the NEWEST computer that is a problem. Nwere should be better. right ???? Are you sure it is not a hardware issue ? i.e. low quality wlan cards

Since this is a brand new Windows 8 system the first thing it wants to do when it is activated is check for and install updates. I'm presuming that it did so and there were no problems downloading that large amount of updates with this issue present, which is why I asked if it was present before any updates were installed.

I would suggest that you either try to do a system restore to before the updates to see if it's present, or run a refresh to see if that fixes any corrupt operating system files that may not have installed correctly when the updates installed.

Hi Justin,

It is an intermittent problem, not constant. I log on to this forum with the new computer, so it is not constant. In my first message I said the "internet keeps dropping out", not that it is constantly out for long periods. So I was able to get the Windows updates at the outset. There are times that the problem disappears for a few hours, but then reappears. Initially I thought it was a McAfee problem but I uninstalled it and no change. I am confused as to why the other 3 laptops in my house do not have the same problem? 2 of them are Acer laptops one with Windows 7 and one with Windows 8.1; the 3rd computer is a HP laptop with Windows 8.1. Why would the newest computer have the issue but the other 3 do not? Many people on other forums (not Acer forums) have the same issue as myself with their Acer laptop wifi. So I am not alone here. Can you please tell me if your suggestions (in the previous message) are based on Acer already being aware that the new E5-571G laptops may have wlan problems if Windows is updated? I will try your suggestions, but if they do not work, then I would like Acer to stop guessing at the solution and investigate it properly.

I don't have any documentation that supports we have a known issue regarding E5-571G wireless. In order for me to do troubleshooting, I have to rule out certain things. The first is always software, the operating system updates being the main culprit most of the time. Once software is ruled out that leaves a hardware problem, environmental issues, or network configuration. It's easier to troubleshoot by removing software from the equation at the very start. I recently purchased the exact same laptop as the others in this thread (Acer Aspire E5-571G-79XU) and I am also getting the exact same problems of wifi dropping out. I have many other wireless devices in the home which do not experience the same issue.

Considering there are quite a few people here with the exact same laptop and the exact same problem, it must either be a laptop hardware problem or some sort of compatibility issue with the operating system or some other pre-installed program.

Can Acer please investigate this issue more thoroughly to determine the cause and subsequently a fix.

As I've stated in my previous threads, we need to rule out software first, the operating system being the first step. Here are the troubleshooting steps that typically get performed for wireless issues:

Download drivers from our support site and install them.
System restore as needed to when it worked.
Refresh the operating system.
Restore the operating system.

If you do all the troubleshooting steps and it doesn't resolve the issue then the next step would be to contact technical support in your area for assistance.

I am on your side davidlyhua.

An unused new laptop should work properly immediately after any initial windows updates are loaded.

Acer (and the whole world) know there are regular windows updates. So Acer should be testing each of their newer computers regularly to see if new windows updates affect their computers. Otherwise we are trying to fix the problem by changing computer settings blindly.

PLUS LOGICALLY almost all computer users download regular windows updates. So if we identify that windows updates are the problem, then how is Acer going to fix it ?

As there are quite a few of us having the same problem, why doesn't Acer just start up a new computer and see what happens immediately and then see if new windows updates change the situation? That way we are not just guessing and wasting time on diagnostics.

Yes. I am still frustrated with this intermittent problem, despite having followed Justin's instructions.

But I do not wish to give the computer back to the Acer service dept and be without the computer for many weeks.

So I will just pay money to get a wired connection setup and not buy any more Acer computers.

I have the same issue with my new purchased E5-571g-53dh.

The laptop wifi connection keep disconnecting every minute.

I have updated the software today but the problem still be unsolved.

My other laptop, tablet, smart phone all have stable connecting in the same time.

I really think that the net card of e5-571g is the problem.

Ok, so I have restored my system to the point before I installed all the initial windows updates when I first turned on the laptop. Since performing the restore I have not experienced any wifi connectivity issues so it looks like it is a problem with the windows updates. So now that we have worked out the cause of the issue, what is the next course of action? Am I supposed to never update my windows? Justin, Will you now investigate further to determine a fix so that we can update windows without suffering the wifi connectivity issues?

Thank you for the update.

It is recommended that you install Windows updates to make sure that your operating system is up to date. I have no problems looking into this, but I want to make sure that your expectations are set correctly since we have deduced it's not a hardware problem at this time.

My investigation will be to get the exact unit and install Windows updates to see if the issue persists. Should it have the issue, a system restore will be done and I will install a couple updates at a time, then restart to make sure everything works as intended after that; rinse and repeat until all updates installed.

It could very well be that one or a couple updates didn't install correctly when you installed them and that's what caused the problem. This method is sometimes really the only way to ensure that they install correctly. That's a problem when installing updates, the more you do at once the more the computer itself has to change, sometimes doing a little at a time is more efficient.

I'll get started on this from a fresh load on this model and let you know the outcome when it's completed.

Ok, thanks Justin, I will await to hear from you regarding your findings.
I am no expert but in my opinion I don't think that the issue is caused by some of the updates not installing correctly because it seems like quite a few people are having the exact same issue with the exact same model laptop.

I installed all Windows updates on the E5-571G notebook we have here. After restarting after the last updates were installed, I began streaming video from the internet around about 1:00 pm. The notebook has not had any interruptions while streaming, it's still streaming as I type this message.

It appears to me that the issue you experienced was linked to Windows updates, I would suggest you reinstall them a little at a time. I installed about 10 at a time and restarted after each ten to make sure I was not having problems afterwards. I did not experience any issues using this method, it took me a bit longer to finish the updates, but it is working without any issues.
