crashing: atikmadg.sys system thread exception not handled

Hi!

 

Brand spanking new notebook (2 weeks old) keeps crashing.

 

Blue smiley screen tells me the following error and that it will restart - which never happens.

 

If anyone can point me to a fix for this I'd greatly appreciate it.  Did some searching and only found others with the same problem - no solutions.

win8.1

amd a8-7100 r5, 8 compute cores

8g ram

64bit

    found a solution by contacting the company that made the video card and downloading their drivers.  shouldn't acer have these readily available as part of an update for new computers?

    Install the latest drivers from Acer site for your laptop. It is caused by AMD drivers, so you should look at them first.

    Managed to find where the driver updates were on the Acer site.  A link would have been great.

     

    Installed the amd driver and the laptop has crashed twice since they were installed - with the same error.

     

    Is there a solution that will stop this from happening and fix the error?

     

    I'm not the only one with this problem which makes me wonder why on earth this fix isn't included in an update package.  Thinking hard about returning this and buying something else if something like this can't be fixed what else?

    Just 'chatted' online with Acer's offshore support.  Was told to send the laptop in for service. Hardly.  If something this simple can't be fixed on a new laptop I'll return it and get my money back.

     

    Does anyone know of a fix that works and one that doesn't require me to be a computer tech to figure out?
