Aspire 5749Z will not power up, have done the battery removal disconnected the ac adaptor and held the power switch down for 2 minutes, I get nothing but a blank screen when I try and then power back up, no power light only the blue charging light is lit the fan is not coming on? Have checked the DC voltage coming out of the AC adaptor and it is the 19V as per the marking on the adaptor, there was potentially some liquid spilt on the keyboard area but it has since been dried off and I've taken the unit apart and checked around the motherboard and there is no moisture inside the unit any longer (dried it out with a hair dryer)...Any ideas what is my next move?

I'd venture to guess your next move is a motherboard or a new laptop. When they're getting power, but don't do anything it's usually a bad motherboard.
